Supreme Court Hears WakeCARES case

I was out-of-state caring for a loved one, so didn't get to attend the hearing today concerning WCPSS forcing students to go to year-round schools without parental permission. From what I heard, lots of detailed questions were asked, and it could take months for a ruling to be announced. Here's what ABC local news reported:

Leesville parents have formed a group called 1Campus1Calendar. Their mission is "To maintain STABILITY for families and bring true CALENDAR CONTINUITY to the Leesville campus by ensuring that all 3 of the Leesville Schools operate on the traditional calendar."

Please visit their site, it is quite extensive and persuasive.

Community Engagement Meetings This Week

Tonight, December 1, the second community engagement meeting on Wake County Public School System's proposed student assignment plan is scheduled at Cary High School.

These meetings provide parents, teachers, and other citizens a chance to voice their opinions to WCPSS staff about a multi-year draft, which assigns students to schools for the next three school years.

Under the proposed plan, close to 27,000 students are to be reassigned.

The meeting is scheduled to run from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Cary High School auditorium.

The remaining community engagement meetings are:

Dec. 3 at Wake Forest-Rolesville High School

Dec. 4 at Holly Springs High School

Dec. 8 at Broughton High School
