A REMINDER
A public hearing on the proposal to convert certain middle schools to mandated year-round calendars will be held TONIGHT (Thursday, September 14), at 7 p.m. at Sanderson High School. Online sign-up and comments can be made by going to the Wake County Public Schools’ website at www.wcpss.net, but don’t wait too late. Even if you don’t speak, come and show your support for those fighting against these forced conversions!

Louise,
I'd love to go, but they have scheduled the hearing on the same night that many of us have middle school "meet the teacher" nights--it is at Davis Drive Middle, and I heard, but might be wrong that it is a Salem Middle as well. I'll be there in spirit.

I'll be there in support of Salem Middle not going to year round. I have a question though. What if my child excels in sports and when he/she is tracked out in 7th and 8th grade, he/she has to be at practice anyway? I can't take vacation because he/she will not be able to miss practice. What do people do in those instances? Is that fair?
